Information and Communication
Technology (ICT) is one of the evolving technologies which provides the
greatest chances to develop education management and learning process in
schools. Schools that have used the ICT in teaching and learning process
activities will be very different from schools that do not use it. At this
time, ICT is needed in the process of learning and teaching in schools because
it can improve the quality of teaching at school. There are several advantages
of ICT that can support the teachers and students in the process teaching and
learning. For examples, it can be used to present the material clearly and
effectively, it could make teachers and students easy in doing everything and
by using ICT, they can access and keep the much information.
First, it can be used to present
the materials clearly and effectively. With the slide of power point, teachers
will be easy to explain the complicated instruction because they can insert
some pictures or animations to attract attention of the students. It also can
develop students’ interest in learning of something new by delivering the
subjects in a simple and active ways. That can be done by coloring the text and
change form of writing become more interesting but still can be seen clearly by
the students. Thus, the material presented by the teacher is easily understood
and remembered by the students.
Second, ICT could make teachers
and students easy in doing any tasks. It could be save much of their time in
doing and finishing their work because ICT changed the learning process that is
different from traditional learning that using blackboard and text book only.
Besides, by using the appropriate software, every work could be done quickly.
For example, by using Microsoft Word, writing the paragraph would be more
orderly and neat. Then, if the students wanted to do mathematical tasks or in
connection with making graph, just enter the data, and it will automatically exit
the desired chart by using Microsoft Excel, and if teachers want to generate an
interesting presentation, they only use Microsoft Power Point as has been
explained the benefits firs. Essentially, ICT also has software that can help
teachers and students in doing something.
Third, by using ICT, the teachers
and students could access and keep much information. Internet is one way to
access and receive the information. The information that has accepted can be
easier to get because it only requires the internet connection from the computer.
Computer could save a large amount of information that has been got from the
internet safely, so the teachers and the students can download as much as their
want and the data will be automatically saved. Basically, the memory capacities
of computers owned by allowing users to resume learning outcomes have been
achieved before. The results, the previous study can be used by students as a
basis for consideration to conduct further study.
The conclusion is the ICT can
provide a lot of convenience that can help teachers to be more creative in
conveying information in the teaching and learning process by applying the software contained in the computer. Then, it can motivate students’ desire
to understand the lesson because of the interest in the lesson material. So,
the teachers and students should be able to use ICT with their respective
capabilities.
